For nearly 20 years now Ive dreamed of having a business that not only markets abled artists but also disabled artists. Something that would help disabled artists who arent even known about to be marketed and helped to get supplies and recognition. This recognition no doubt leads to orders and that leads to getting them a regular income that helps them to get off of disability from the government that enslaves them to poverty.
Did you know that those individuals only recieve 674.00 a month to live on. If they make anything past 69.00 a month in cash they begin to lose foodstamps and cash out of the monthly check. Now its impossible enough for one person to live on this amount a month can you imagine a single parent trying to raise a child on this? I can. So everytime they try so hard to get off of disability every dime that they get only sets them further back then they have to worry that they lose foodstamps and even their heakthcare is at risk of being lost.
Ive seen artists who make incredible work just mind boggling good and they eat cat food or dog food to survive. Not by choice but necessity. If only they had someone to help them get the little bit of supplies to get them going and when they had the artwork done someone who would market it to the public.Someone to talk to about small business,some mentors to lead them in the right direction. Any help so that they could concentrate on making their work and getting healthy enough to maintain a regular pace in order to be consistant with income.
artists no matter whether or not they walk or talk or are in constant agonizing pain are not completely disabled! They have the means to have a better life .All they need is just a hand up to get there.
Well, DARE TO DREAM A NEW REALITY tm. does just that. I will be filing for non profit status and if everything goes well we will be helping these individuals by late February 2010.
I have created a Tv show which will begin filming in Feb.2010 which highlights the great artists of florida and markets their work. For every abled artist they pay an appearance fee. Small price to pay I may add to get seen on tv and have your art marketed to a large public that no art show could hold the amount of people. That fee gets them 60 minutes of a documentary style filming of their lives past present and future with their art. The 60 can be broken down from 2 to 4 shows for multiple exposure. That fee helps us to be able to market disabled artists who cannot afford supplies let alone the fee to appear on the show. You see its artists helping artists. The abled helping the disabled. The feeling that this should generate I hope will bring on a whole new pay it forward movement between the gifted.
Eventually this will lead us to build an artists colony featuring all of the artists we have on the show. a WONDERFUL tourist attraction for Florida. You can be apart of a program that helps people to find out that they are not forgotten in the system and they arent tied to poverty and although they may be disabled in some ways their art will liberate them not only financially but spiritually as well.
